Terms of Use

These terms govern use of the tono.love website and Tono-related materials made available through it. The open-source source code is governed separately by its software license.

Important: Tono is a software tool. It does not provide or grant music licenses and does not give you rights to third-party songs, recordings, videos, lyrics, compositions, or performances.

1. Open-source software

Tono source code is made available under the license included in the repository. That license governs copying, modification, and distribution of the licensed source code. These website terms do not reduce rights granted by an applicable open-source license.

2. Your music and copyright responsibility

You are responsible for ensuring that you have the rights, permissions, licenses, or other legal authority required for any audio, video, MIDI, notation, lyrics, recording, composition, performance, or other material that you import, process, reproduce, modify, export, publish, distribute, perform, or share using Tono.

Tono does not determine whether your use qualifies as fair use, fair dealing, personal use, educational use, or any other exception or limitation under copyright law. Those questions depend on the facts and applicable law.

3. Generated outputs and derivative material

Tono may create or assist in creating transcriptions, fingering guides, separated stems, backing tracks, practice videos, arrangements, tempo-shifted material, recordings, or other outputs based on material you provide. Generation of an output does not create new ownership rights in the underlying composition, sound recording, performance, lyrics, or other third-party material.

In particular, removing vocals or isolating accompaniment does not make the resulting backing track free of copyright or other third-party rights.

4. Publishing and social sharing

An export or recording feature does not imply that you have permission to upload or distribute the result on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, another social platform, or any public service. You are responsible for complying with copyright law, platform rules, takedown procedures, and any applicable licensing requirements.

5. Accuracy and musical guidance

Tono uses automated audio analysis and may produce incorrect notes, rhythms, stems, tempos, transpositions, chord information, fingerings, or instrument mappings. Some profiles may be marked as unverified until checked on physical hardware. Review generated guidance before relying on it for teaching, performance, publication, or safety-critical use.

6. Third-party tools and services

Tono may invoke or integrate third-party software and services. Those components remain subject to their own licenses and terms. Tono's open-source license does not relicense third-party software, models, codecs, or services.

7. Trademarks and affiliation

Roland, Aerophone, Yamaha, and other product or company names are trademarks of their respective owners. References to third-party instruments are for compatibility and identification. Unless explicitly stated, Tono is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by those manufacturers.

8. Prohibited use

You may not use the website or Tono services, if any, to violate applicable law, infringe third-party rights, distribute material you are not authorized to distribute, interfere with service security, or misrepresent Tono as an official product of a third-party manufacturer.

9. No warranty

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the website, software, generated outputs, documentation, and related materials are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties of accuracy, reliability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Tono's authors, maintainers, contributors, and distributors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, revenue, profits, goodwill, opportunity, or claims arising from user-supplied content, generated output, publication, performance, copyright disputes, or reliance on automated musical analysis.

11. Your responsibility for claims

To the extent permitted by law, you are responsible for claims arising from material you choose to import, process, distribute, publish, or perform when those claims result from your lack of the necessary rights or permissions.

12. Changes

Tono is experimental and may change features, file formats, supported instruments, or these website terms. Material changes to these terms will be reflected on this page.
